Accessibility and Universal Design

As an instructional designer, you are likely familiar with the words accessibility and user experience. Most modern workplaces, schools, and public-facing enterprises must adhere to accepted standards of accessibility so that people with disabilities and impairments can access content and facilities. Designing content that meets accessibility standards can feel overwhelming at first, but is well worth the effort because it allows your learning experiences to reach all kinds of learners. This course will guide you through an introductory set of resources for designing with accessibility in mind: a video to build empathy, a written history of accessibility, a comparison of design standards, an infographic, and a rubric for self-evaluation. This course is built with accessibility in mind- check the descriptions at the bottom of each page for details on how they are accessible.
